Downtown Madison Capitol Square
The photo created from the Capitol Dome required practice, coordination and opportunity. Once I had access to the location a test shoot was organized. Panoramic photography requires a copious amount of photos with a high percentage of overlap. While still learning the process, a trial run was thwarted by too few photos. Ultimately I planned for a fall day when Madison would show her true colors. Mid-day would be the best time, to keep the exposures equal and fall foliage was my goal. Studying leaf charts and watching the weather, while staying in contact with the folks that would get me access, I anxiously waited for the perfect day. Weather looked to be turning worse and the previous print, created in 2012, occurred much earlier in the month. A weather report that predicted mostly sunny skies for a Thursday. I shot a complete series of photos, but the pop of the fall colors just wasn’t there. Of course, the next day - Friday - was perfectly clear. I quickly assembled my equipment and the rest is history!
Enjoy this wonderful view.

I extend major kudos to my friend Nick at Boutique Fineart Prints, who helped assemble and edit the final version. Nick is the best.
